The Roopkund lake (named after the nearby village) is usually frozen from December to April and it gets a covering of snow during this season. Explore the Himalayas on a remarkable journey through the spectacular Himalayan Mountain range. This is an adventure to remember, with plenty of opportunities for excitement and exploration in this remote and beautiful region.

WHEN TO VISIT NORTH EAST INDIA?

Best time to visit North East India is between October and March. Because of its geographical location, it receives the monsoons from both the Southern and Western regions. During this period, it rains heavily and the temperature goes down making it a very good time to visit Northeast India, it’s a hiker’s paradise, with many hills and trails to explore. The monsoon season lasts roughly between June and September, when the region receives torrential rain and the waterfalls are at their fullest. You'll find peace and quiet in these remote areas during this time of year as tourist numbers are few. There are good treks in Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram that offer spectacular scenery. Assam is famous for its tea gardens and Konkan has fantastic beaches. Meghalaya has colourful tribal dances that are a treat to watch.

North East India consists of 8 states, Sikkim, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. Jorhat is a good place to start with where you can spend your days sitting by the canals filled with lotus flowers. Visit Kaziranga in search of tigers and rhinos then head on over to Shillong and enjoy some good swing on the golf course. Some of the other places that are worth visiting include Cherrapunjee, which boasts of the highest rainfall; Ahom regime's capital Sibsagar; Rongmei Naga tribe's capital Longleng town and Nampong Lañi village in Arunachal Pradesh which has undisturbed bio-diversity due to its remote location.

HOW TO BACKPACK IN NORTHEAST INDIA?

Backpacking in north east India is a safe and adventurous trip for outdoor lovers. Make unforgettable memories traveling through one of the most diverse regions on Earth and truly immerse yourself in the rich history, culture and natural beauty of the Himalayas.

1.    If you're going in the winter, layer your clothing. So, if you're travelling from a cold to a warm environment, all you have to do is remove your jacket and/or jumpers.
2.   Only three of India's eight states require Inner Line Permits (ILPs): Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Mizoram.

TRANSPORT

Taxi may be found on practically every area's road and can be arranged for a single journey or a complete tour. If you're in a bunch and have limited time, this can be a cost-effective alternative.

While covering all of the north-eastern states in ten days would be impossible, I recommend beginning with Assam and Meghalaya.

Benefits of travelling in your life.

We get so wrapped up in our daily life that we mostly do ourselves more harm than good by simply wanting to remain. Is your manager taking control of your life? Are your toddlers driving you insane? Your parents are attempting to push you to live the life they desire? How long do you think you can withstand this pressure before exploding and everything comes crashing down?

The advantages of travelling are not another events: travelling actually changes you emotionally and physically. Lack of time or money is not an acceptable reason. You can easily find low-cost flights. Even if you work full-time and have a family, you can travel on weekends or holidays, even if you have a baby. Traveling has numerous health benefits, including reduced stress and a lower risk of developing heart disease. You may sit in a chair all day at work: adding some walking to your trip will undoubtedly make your body feel better. Wandering abroad can even be used to treat depression and anxiety in some people.

No matter how insignificant it may appear, the fact that you had an out-of-the-ordinary experience abroad creates a memory that you will remember for a long time.

I believe that many people continue to travel in order to create those memories.Traveling allows you to experience the thrill and excitement of adventure. When travelling without much planning, it becomes an adventure due to the uncertainty and excitement of exploring the unknown. People nowadays, however, prefer to go on planned adventures. There are numerous destinations that host adventure activities such as mountaineering, trekking, bungee jumping, rafting, paragliding, and rock climbing to satisfy people's growing desire for adrenaline rushing thrills.

The need to interact with different types of people while travelling liberates you from your ego while also presenting you with interesting challenges. During the process, you discover that you are capable of much more than you previously thought. The experiences you gain while travelling help you become more open to life.

People who have travelled a lot in life are often more adaptable to changes, and their ability to overcome problems and hardships becomes more pronounced.

Improves your connections
Traveling with your loved ones provides you with dedicated time that will help you revitalise and enliven your relationship with your family. Being with family members is unrivalled in terms of fun and pleasure. Visiting new places, sharing meals, and having fun together will keep your relationships fresh. If you are going through a rough patch with your partner, a trip to a romantic destination would be the ideal way to restore happiness and intimacy in your relationship.

As Dan Roitman wrote in the Huffington Post, if you get in the habit of learning new words in a different language every time you travel, you will notice improvements in your brain capacities. If only for this, start learning travel jargon.

Traveling teaches you more about yourself than "just" languages. You may encounter difficult situations that require you to be resourceful and think creatively. I'm confident you'll discover a new set of abilities you didn't know you possessed.

Ultimate guide to North goa

The state of Goa is dived into two districts North Goa and South Goa. Both these regions attract their fare share of tourists. Mostly tourists prefer North Goa as it offers more choices and activities in terms of hotels, restaurants and night life. South Goa attracts tourists who are mostly looking for a relaxed vacation. You will either see a lot of beach huts in Goa for low end tourists or five star properties for high end tourists enjoying a luxury vacation. One of India's tiniest states, Goa is a popular vacation spot for both domestic and international travellers. Despite being a small state, it has 130 km of coastline, including long stretches of beaches that are generally undeveloped and clean.

The tourist area in North Goa is primarily divided into the following eleven regions. From Keri Beach, which borders Maharashtra, at the very top, it descends to Sinquerim Beach. The list of beaches is shown below. Keri, Calangute Beach Arambol ,Mandrem .Morjim, Ashwem, Anjuna, Vagator, Baga, Calangute, Candolim,Sinquerim.

A trip to North Goa wouldn't be complete without experiencing the exciting nightlife that can be found in and around Baga and Calangute. Here is where Tito's, the most well-known nightclub in the state, is located. During the day, a continuous row of beach shacks offers refreshments next to the sand.

The original Goan hippie feel isn't exactly what it once was, but if there's somewhere you're likely to rediscover it, it'll be amidst the colour and bustle of Anjuna, where shops offer everything from genuine clothing to spices and hammocks at the monthly flea market, held every Wednesday.

You can keep yourself busy for three days in North Goa. You can continue to float towards Goa's far north, Arambol (known for its sunset drums), or the deep south with its numerous coves. However, you should factor in an additional eight hours for the drive. According to me. Unless you want to spend the entire holiday hibernating in a coastal shack, watching the neighbourhood fishermen at work, that is priceless.

If you're going to Old Goa, start there with the Basilica of Bom Jesus, which has been around for four centuries! The gold shines brilliantly through the ivory-white walls of the historic chapel, which also contains the mummified body of St. Francis Xavier, one of the first missionaries dispatched from Vatican City to India. If you have the opportunity, you might decide to stay a few days in one of Fontainhas' unique bed and breakfasts. They feature historical home furnishings and materials from bygone eras, all hand-selected to create the ideal atmosphere of a bygone Portugal! One of Fontainhas's most promising eateries, Cafe Bodega has a solid reputation. Visit Gitanjali Gallery to immerse yourself in Goan artists' contemporary art. Another great place in Fontainhas to spend a breezy Sunday afternoon with a novel in hand is Anita Tea House.

WHEN TO VISIT ?
It's best from October through April, but by the end of April it's hot. The busiest month is December, when attendance is at its height. At this time, reservations are required, and you should plan to pay five times as much as usual. Although I adore it and stay during the monsoon season, which lasts from May to September, most visitors prefer to avoid coming during this time.

Caravanning - A UNIQUE EXPERIENCE.

The liberty to live and move without constraints is provided by caravans. You can choose where you want to live, sleep, and whether you want to wake up near to the ocean or to the sounds of nature. It is a relaxing synthesis of travel, recreation, and lodging. In fact, according to the government, demand for eco, adventure, wildlife, and pilgrimage tourism is rising right now. Caravan tourism has the ability to fill the accommodation gap that exists in rural areas.According to the studies, people prefer to travel in small groups, primarily with their family and close friends, as a result of Covid-19. The greatest way to travel is by caravan because it can accommodate all of those requirements.

Traditional tourism has numerous negative effects on the environment. However, there is a shortage of supplies and room if you travel by caravan. Caravan travel is more environmentally beneficial due to this restriction. According to Tiger Ramesh, CEO of LuxeCamper, who explained this to The Indian Express, caravan tourism is very sustainable because even the locals profit from offering hospitality services to caravan guests by feeding them and exposing them to local culture and activities. In a place like India, most people choose to stay in hotels for a relaxed and opulent stay, but caravanning is a great choice for individuals who don't want to follow the rules. A campervan is available for purchase or for rental. When you start driving, you'll have a sensation of independence.
Without sacrificing comfort or elegance, a campervan can serve as your home away from home. Camping is a more affordable option because you will save a lot of money. A hotel reservation or dining out are not required.
The trailer will easily accommodate all of your belongings, including your clothing and camping gear. The fact that you can take your pets on trips is the finest aspect.

Caravanning in India is still in its infancy, despite the US and the UK having long since embraced the practise. It is affected by a number of factors, including a lack of excellent roads, infrastructure, and service centres. Additionally, because there are so few companies offering campervans in India, they are pricey and nearly out of reach for the middle class. We will, however, undoubtedly catch up soon.

Since India is endowed with a variety of landscapes, there are several options for tourists to explore the wonders of nature in their campervans. Only a few places in the country allow for long road trips because these hippy trailers require wide, smooth highways.
Leh, Ladakh, and HP: Discover the breathtaking valleys and high-altitude passes.
Rishikesh: Take in the tranquilly and the country's spiritual side.
Darjeeling: Wander through the plush tea plantations and be enchanted by the alluring scenery.

A caravan contains all the amenities of a house. Not only does it have a kitchen with a stove, sink, microwave, and other necessary amenities, but it also has a bathroom with a hot and cold water supply, a toilet, and a sleeping section that is frequently transformed into a dining area. The fact that you can sleep inside a caravan while it's moving is what distinguishes this floor layout as a caravan.

Therefore, if choosing a caravan for your upcoming vacation isn't a good enough reason for you, we don't know what good reason you are looking for. A caravan can provide you with a pleasant and safe environment while you're on the go, as well as a nutritious meal that will feed your spirit.

TOP REASONS TO STAY AT A HOMESTAY

Get to know the local residents - Staying in a homestay is a great way to meet regular, genuine Indians. Most Indians are extremely friendly, and many speak English fluently, so communication is usually quite simple. You can do your own thing and simply dine with the family, or you can spend hours chatting with them and learning about Indian culture and way of life.

  • You want to get a taste of local flavor and culture, but you also want all the modern comforts, including a place to sleep. A homestay delivers both, allowing you to experience authentic stay in the heart of your trip's destination.

Homestays are becoming one of the most popular ways to travel the world. The reasons are many: a home is more comfortable than a hotel, it allows you to make new friends and learn about a new culture in an intimate setting, plus it is often more affordable than staying in hotels or hostels.

Experience Indian hospitality - One of the best aspects of this country is the warm welcome, hospitality, and genuine interest shown by the locals. Indians are such friendly, warm, and hospitable people that there is a saying in India that says "Athithi Devo Bhava," which interprets to "the guest is Divine." Indians consider it an honour to have visitors, especially from other countries, in their home, and Indian hospitality is legendary.

  • The experience of staying at an Indian homestay is something that cannot be replicated. You will live like a local, interact with the people and enjoy a great cultural exchange.
  • Explore the culture and hospitality of India, stay at an Indian homestay and experience home-cooked meals and the traditional Indian hospitality that guests have loved for decades.

Home stay is the most authentic way to truly immerse yourself in a foreign culture, making it an unbeatable alternative to the tourism options that are available. You will live with a host family, share meals, and learn from your new friends about how they live their daily lives.

Relish The Local Cuisine: Nothing beats the comfort of home-cooked meals! The best part about staying in a homestay is undoubtedly the delicious home-cooked meal. Staying there allows you to learn about the preparation process because most hosts are willing to share their secret recipes with you. If you have strict food rules, homestays allow you to customise your experience. Even if you prefer to eat outside, homestays can provide you with information on some amazing local restaurants that may not be on the tourist map.

Comfortable, particularly for backpackers
Homestays are typically run by a family, so it is in their best interests to ensure that their establishment is safe for visitors. Traveling alone can be a liberating experience, and some argue that it is the best way to travel. In such cases, living with a local family provides you with the same company and comfort as your own home. Additionally, hosts ensure that you have adequate privacy during your stay.

A solo traveller is someone who travels alone. Whether they're reluctant to share their vacation with others, prefer traveling without the stress of making plans and accommodations, or simply sick of other people, they need a place that suits their needs. The best part about staying in homestays is that you always make new friends. Homestay hosts are usually chatty people, so you'll probably end up having long meaningful conversations and possibly making a new friend. For those travelling alone, homestays are the best option. After spending the day exploring the town by yourself, it's always nice to have some company.

More tranquillity, so much time to relax
Homestays are a good option if you want to get away from city life. Because they are smaller than hotels, homestays usually do not accommodate more than ten people. This simply means that you will have more quality time with yourself, your family, or your friends. These less populated, less frequented areas provide solitude. Some homestays are also available for hire as a whole, making them ideal for small group bookings.

BACKPACKING - A COMPREHENSIVE GUIDE

Backpacking is one of the oldest forms of adventure sports, dating back centuries to when people first strapped on animal skins and carried what little they owned on their backs to venture into unknown territory. Today, the sport has evolved from a way for survivors to conquer new lands to a fun pastime that millions engage in throughout the world. If you love being outdoors and want to travel the world, backpacking is the perfect way to see a lot of new sights and meet people who offer a different perspective on life.

GET INTO THE RIGHT MINDSET

The idea of backpacking versus traveling light is not just about traveling lighter, it’s about the way you approach the journey. Backpacking isn’t about finding the cheapest hotel or hopping on every bus, it’s about doing things yourself and discovering new ways of getting around.
Prep by researching the area you plan to visit.

HOW TO PLAN ?

Choose an easy route with low mileage and manageable elevation gain for your first overnight. Remember that hiking with a full pack will take you longer than a regular dayhike. Apps like Gaia GPS can help you find route suggestions, trail information, and maps. Plan ahead of time by speaking with friends or rangers, reading online, or making a campsite reservation. Check that camping is permitted in the area you're going to before you go, and obtain any necessary permits from the appropriate land management office.
Backpackers can save money by cooking their own meals and sleeping in a tent or on the floor, but they must still choose the right backpack based on their size, weight, and activity level. You'll need a pack big enough to carry everything. Look for one with a capacity of 40 to 75 litres. Smaller packs (40-50 litres) are ideal for overnight trips, warm weather, and people who travel light. Larger packs are ideal for longer trips, cold weather, or carrying bulky budget gear.

STOVE AND GEAR

While some multi-day hikers prefer to forego the stove and eat cold meals, many backpackers insist on a hot dinner at the end of the day or coffee in the morning. Choose a lightweight, compact, and simple-to-use single-burner backpacking stove. Many backpackers prefer stoves with an integrated pot, such as the Jetboil or MSR Windburner. Those stoves are great for quickly boiling water, but not for cooking other meals.

CLOTHING
Pack lightweight, quick-drying hiking shirts, pants, or shorts made of nylon, polyester, or wool for backpacking. Dress in layers to allow for easy temperature adjustment. Cotton absorbs sweat and takes a long time to dry. It's also not particularly warm. Clothes that are great for backpacking tend to be durable and lightweight, but also comfortable. Lightweight shirts (100% cotton!) offer breathability and durability without being too warm; shorts that sit above or just below the knee provide coverage and comfort. "Lightweight hiking shoes" are a must, offering grip on trails as well as support; a simple pair of boots keeps feet dry and warm through rainstorms and slushy mud puddles.

 GET IN SHAPE

You should be in good physical condition before you go on any backpacking trip, but being fit will make a big difference when you're carrying all your gear with you over long distances. Many people find that hiking and camping are great ways to get in shape — but if you're not used to these activities, start slowly and build up your distance and speed gradually so you don't injure yourself.

Know what you're getting yourself into before you go out there.

If you've got never been backpacking before, spend some time reading about it so that you know what to expect from both the physical exertion required and the experience of being away from civilization for several days or weeks at a time. If there's any chance that other people might have trouble with this kind of adventure (such as children), then consider taking them along on a trial run before going on your actual backpacking trip.

EMPTY OUT
Before stuffing everything into your backpack, take everything out and spread it out on the floor so you can see what you have and don't have. This will help ensure that nothing is forgotten and will give you an idea of how much space is available in your pack once everything is packed — crucial information if you're trying to fit everything into one bag!

So there you have it. Learning how to backpack is a rewarding experience, regardless of if you are new or advanced. It gives you the chance to explore the world, but keep comfort a priority. Choose the right gear and create a plan before you go to make sure you don't forget anything. And most importantly for this list? Be safe!
